Driver Dozes; Downs 3 Utility Poles

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
WHITESBORO – On Jan. 5, at approximately 1 a.m., the Middle Township Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 9 in Whitesboro.  
According to a release, the investigation revealed Shawn Karge, 25, of Court House, was driving northbound on Route 9 when he fell asleep. The 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck Karge was driving, drifted across the center line, ran off the roadway and struck three utility poles before coming to rest.  
Karge was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center and was treated for minor injuries.  Karge was issued a summons for careless driving.  
The road was closed for several hours to repair the damaged utility poles.  
Rio Grande Fire, Green Creek Fire and Middle Township Emergency Medical Service assisted on scene.
