Driver Crashes on Route 9, Flees on Foot

SEAVILLE – The driver of a Hyundai apparently fled on foot after crashing into a utility pole on Route 9 early Thursday morning, June 8.
The crash, which happened at approximately 2 a.m., also damaged a bus stop hut and a mailbox in the area of 1433 Route 9 in Seaville.
Both directions of Route 9 were closed for the removal of wires and reopened at approximately 4:33 a.m.
Sgt. Philip Curry from the New Jersey State Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and has not been located. The crash remains under investigation.
