Driver Airlifted after Route 47 Crash in Eldora

ELDORA — State police are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred here on Route 47 at mile marker 22 on Thursday, Sept. 3 at around 8:30 p.m.
The vehicle was traveling on Route 47 when for unknown reasons it crossed into the oncoming lane continuing into the woods where it struck a tree trapping the driver.
Belleplain Fire Department arrived on scene and reported the driver to be unresponsive. Firefighters had to extricate the driver.
The driver was transported to a nearby landing zone by Belleplain Emergency Corps where the driver was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City by South Star medevac.
The flight crew reported the patient to be a female in her 50s with a serious head injury.
The state police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and Criminal Investigation Division were requested to the scene to further investigate the crash.
