NORTH DENNIS – At 6 p.m. June 5, Dennis Volunteer Fire Company units were dispatched to the 1400 block of Route 47 in North Dennis for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
According to Dennis Volunteer Fire Company Facebook, a crew of firefighters who were at the station at the time of dispatch responded immediately. They arrived in three minutes, according to a release,
They immediately shut down the highway and began administering emergency medical care until the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
A helicopter was requested, but was cancelled due to weather conditions.
The patient was transported to an area hospital by Belleplain Emergency Corps: Emergency Medical Services and AtlantiCare Paramedics.
Four Dennis engines and trucks also responded to the scene and provided traffic control at various locations, as Route 47 was closed or down to one lane for several hours as the New Jersey State Police investigated the incident.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation also responded to the scene. Crews remained on the incident for approximately 2.5 hours before returning to quarters.
The incident is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police – Woodbine Barracks.
