Court House Man Killed in Route 147 Motor Vehicle Crash

BURLEIGH – At approximately 8:12 a.m. June 16, the Middle Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 147 and Massachusetts Avenue, in Burleigh.
According to a release, investigation revealed the vehicle driven westbound on State Highway 147 by Jerry Jorgensen, 64, of Court House, struck the Garden State Parkway Overpass and then struck a residence on State Highway 147 before coming to a stop. Jorgensen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The overpass was struck by the hydraulic lift on the vehicle used for dumpsters. There was one person in the residence at the time, but they were uninjured.
Members of the Middle Township Police Department Crash Unit, the Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. The crash remains under investigation as of June 16.
The Rio Grande Fire Company, Cape May Court House Fire Company and Middle Township Emergency Medical Services also responded.
