CG Responds to Sunset Lake Boat Crash; 4 Hurt

WILDWOOD — The Coast Guard responded to a boat collision that injured four passengers aboard two vessels on Sunset Lake near Wildwood, July 15.
According to a release, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received the initial report of the accident from a good Samaritan at approximately 8:30 p.m.
A 29-foot response boat  from Coast Guard Station Cape May launched to assist, and transferred two of the four persons aboard, while another two were taken aboard by a Tow Boat US vessel.
The four injured boaters were transported to Schooner Island Marina where local emergency medical service personnel were standing by to assist.
“We affected a very quick response to the collision thanks to the timely report made by a good Samaritan,” stated Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Capestany, command duty officer for the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Command Center. “Having the ability to call the Coast Guard in a critical moment can be the difference between life and death in some cases.”
