Car Hits Utility Pole in Tuckahoe, Driver Injured

TUCKAHOE—A single car crash caused traffic delays on Route 50 at around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 8.
The car was traveling south on Route 50 at a high rate of speed according to a witness. “He was going very fast then he hit the pole, by the time I was pulling up he was already climbing out the window”, he said. The witness said the driver appeared to be a young male in his late teens or twenties.
Route 50 was reduced to one lane of travel where the crash occurred the utility pole was severely damage and will be replaced according to reports.
The Tuckahoe Fire Department and Fire Police responded to the scene with the Upper Township Rescue Squad.
The driver was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries by the Upper Township Rescue Squad.
The crash is under investigation by troopers at the Woodbine station.
