DENNIS TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee passed the 2025 municipal budget of nearly $5.9 million on Tuesday, April 8, after a public hearing.

The $5,887,141 budget shows an increase in spending of $311,737 over 2024. It will be funded in part with a tax rate increase of about 1.7 cents per $100 of assessed value. The 2024 tax rate was 0.242, and it will be increased to 0.259, an increase of less than 2 cents.

The average home in the township, according to the tax assessor’s office, is $189,317. That average home would see a municipal purpose tax increase of about $19 this year.

The local purpose tax will raise $2,396,778, which is a little under $200,000 more than the 2024 levy.

Areas of significant increase include legal services, which will rise $39,000; employee group health insurance, up $100,000; the cost of joining central dispatch, $93,850; emergency medical services, up $25,000; hiring a school security officer, $32,690, and animal control, up $26,000.
