Navy Petty Officer on Leave Dies After Scooter Crash

LOWER TOWNSHIP – A Navy petty officer who was on leave in North Cape May died following an accident in which his gas-powered scooter crashed.

According to NJ.com, Ronald A. Shousky III, 27, of Philadelphia, was traveling on Fire Lane in Lower Township on Friday, Sept. 13, at around 8:30 p.m. when he crashed for an unknown reason. Shousky was found by a passerby who called 911.

According to the NJ.com report, police said Shousky did not strike a tree or a sign, and was not struck by another vehicle. He was wearing a helmet, the report said, and was taken to an area hospital.

An online obituary said Shousky was a Navy petty officer second class. The obituary said he died on Sept. 18.

He is survived by his wife, Brooke, and parents, Ronald A. Jr. and Lisa Shousky. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
