Route 47 northbound, leaving Wildwood, is scheduled to have daytime lane closures as the Route 47, 109 & 147 Pavement Preservation project advances in Cape May County.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, May 13, and continuing Tuesday, May 14 through Thursday, May 16 at the same times, lanes closures are scheduled on Route 47 northbound between the Wildwood Bridge in Lower Township and Shunpike Road in Middle Township. The closures are necessary to apply chip seal to the roadway. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained during construction.
The $6.5 million federally funded Route 47, 109 & 147 Pavement Preservation project will improve pavement conditions on approximately three miles of Route 47 between West Rio Grande Boulevard in Wildwood/Lower Township and Hawthorne Drive in Middle Township; approximately two miles of Route 109 between Yacht Avenue in Cape May City and Route 9 in Lower Township; and approximately four miles of Route 147 between Route 9 in Middle Township and New York Avenue in North Wildwood City. Work is expected to be complete by fall of 2024.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
