COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Committee, working with the Garden Club, has launched a “Hometown Heroes” banner program to honor “those who have put their lives on the line to ensure the safety and well-being of their fellow Americans.”
The program will showcase uniquely designed banners featuring photographs of past and present service members. The banners will be displayed in designated areas of downtown Cape May Court House.
Mayor Chris Leusner said, “These individuals embody the true spirit of bravery and sacrifice, and their contributions deserve to be recognized and celebrated.”
The project is led by the township Garden Club as part of an effort to support veterans and improve the aesthetics of public spaces in the township. Last year the club joined with volunteers to paint the American Legion Post and upgrade the post’s landscaping.
The township has established profile qualifications for potential honorees. They include:
- Active service with immediate family in Middle Township.
- Active service and currently residing in Middle Township.
- Living veterans born in or residing in Middle Township.
- Deceased veterans born in or with strong ties to Middle Township.
- Veterans who are employees of Middle Township.
Those seeking to submit potential honorees for consideration must provide an official service photo of the honoree.
