Middle Denies Support for Cannabis Retailer

Mayor Christopher Leusner at a February Township Committee meeting.

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Committee has denied support for another cannabis retail license as the township awaits the opening of INSA Middle Township’s cannabis store on Route 9 at Avalon Boulevard.

Mayor Christopher Leusner has repeatedly said that the township, which has an ordinance that would allow a second retail establishment, is on “pause” until it sees the results of the INSA operation.

The application that failed to gain support was from ENV Growers, LLC. Any applicant for a license from the state Cannabis Regulatory Commission must first show proof of local support from the municipality where the business will be located.

It was the proof of local support that ENV Growers was seeking. The resolution denying support states that the “township desires to reserve issuance of the final available license under township ordinance.”
