Jackson Sweet and friends brought new energy to Borough Hall as the Avalon/Stone Harbor Elementary School student took over as “Mayor for a Day” of Stone Harbor on June 18.
Sweet won the Mayor for a Day prize at a school fundraiser in May. Stone Harbor gave him and three friends the royal treatment as they picked the second graders up on Stone Court in a firetruck.
The four new temporary borough officials received a tour of the fire and police departments, a visit to the beach with longtime lifeguards and, later, pizza in the mayor’s office.
They did have some work cut out for them as they gathered on the council dais to pass and sign a resolution.
Sweet was aided by friends Noel Haldeman, Paxton Smith and F.J. Peace.
