Man Falls Off Skateboard, Hit by Car

DEL HAVEN – A Villas man was injured Monday, Oct. 30, when he fell off an electric skateboard and was struck by a moving car.

According to information released by the Middle Township Police Department, officers were dispatched at around 7:50 p.m. to the 100 block of Bayshore Road responding to the report of a motor vehicle crash. Officers determined that Clarence Pike III, 41, of Villas, was operating an electric skateboard when he fell off the skateboard into the roadway. Pike was then struck by a motor vehicle traveling south on Bayshore Road, operated by Kathleen Collins, 70, of Villas.

Pike was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Collins was not injured and there was minor damage to her motor vehicle. No summons was issued to either party at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the Middle Township Police Department’s Patrol Division.
