Boys Lacrosse:
Ocean City (16-4)
The Ocean City boys’ lacrosse team finished the season with a record of 16-4 under head coach Joe LaTorre. The Red Raiders clinched the Cape-Atlantic League title for the second time in the program’s history, finishing 15-0 in the league. The team produced five First Team C.A.L. All-Stars; Jeremiah Johnson, Tommy Cusack, Dan Walsh, Harry Pfeifle and goalie Mark Kolmer. Shane Stack, Marty Cattie and Will Nickerson earned C.A.L. Honorable Mention. The Red Raiders made it to the quarterfinal round of the group state playoffs and finished 63rd in New Jersey.
Lower Cape May (14-4)
The Lower Cape May boys’ lacrosse team had a record breaking season, finishing 14-4 under new head coach Chris Boyle. The Caper Tigers finished third in the Cape-Atlantic League behind rivals Ocean City and Mainland Regional. Seven players were selected to the C.A.L. All-Star Team; Cole Blackley with the First Team; Zach Campbell, Tyler Goarfal, and goalie James Cella to the Second Team; and Luke Lare, Sam Gellura and Jaryd Hill earned Honorable Mentions. Blackley led the team with 51 single season goals, including his 100th, finishing his career with 127. Cella became the ninth high school goalie in the country and first in New Jersey to record over 1,000 saves, bringing his total to 1,209 for his career. The Caper Tigers made it to the first round of the group state playoffs and finished 93rd in New Jersey.
Middle Township (8-10)
The Middle Township boys’ lacrosse team finished the season 8-10 under new head coach C.J. Walters. The Panthers finished sixth in the Cape-Atlantic League. Dimi Terenik, Nik Anagnou and Zac Thornton earned Second Team C.A.L. All-Star honors, while teammates Tommy Williams, Peter Terenik and freshman goalie Matt Kirkland received Honorable Mentions. Junior midfielder Dimi Terenik led the Panthers this season with 61 goals, including his 100th. The team made it to the first round of the group state playoffs and finished 151st in New Jersey.
Girls Lacrosse:
Middle Township (17-4)
The Middle Township girls’ lacrosse team finished the season 17-4 under head coach Jackie Scuderi. The Panthers earned their third straight Cape-Atlantic League title by going undefeated in the league. Junior Bridget Ruskey led the team, and the state, this season with 135 goals, bringing her career total to 380 goals. Ruskey earned herself C.A.L. First Team All-Star recognition, along with junior teammates Jenna Herlihy and Allison Hunter. Herlihy had her own success this season, netting 81 goals, bringing her career total to 212. Hunter led the team, and state, in assists for the season with 105. Cara Henon, Jennifer McCann and Skylar Gentilini received Honorable Mentions. The Panthers made it to the quarterfinal round of the group state playoffs and finished 47th in New Jersey.
Ocean City (17-4)
The Ocean City girls’ lacrosse team finished the season 17-4 under head coach Alyssa Preis. The Red Raiders finished second in the Cape-Altantic League behind rival Middle Township. Two players reached the 100 goal mark this season: juniors Rialee Allen and Lexie Sharp. Allen finished the season with 57 goals, bringing her current career total to 123 while Sharp scored 54 single season goals to bring her total to 122. Freshman Emily DiMarino led the Red Raiders in single season goals and assists with 72 and 36, respectively. Danielle Donoghue, Shannon O’Reilly and Dara Hennessy were also key players. The team made it to the quarterfinals of the group state playoffs and finished 38th in New Jersey.
Lower Cape May (10-9)
The Lower Cape May girls’ lacrosse team finished 10-9 under head coach Nikki Wright. The Caper Tigers finished sixth in the Cape-Atlantic League. Junior Devon Blackley scored her 100th this season, bringing her current career total 110. Blackley also led the team in single season goals and assists with 69 and 34, respectively. Ashley Hunt, Jenna Durbin and Abby Boyle were also key players for the Caper Tigers. The team made it to the first round of the group state playoffs and finished 130th in New Jersey.
