Sk8ters Beat the Heat for a Fun Day Out – Raise Money for Charity Along the Way

The Third Annual Chip Miller Amyloidosis Skate Fest paraticipants

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – The Third Annual Chip Miller Amyloidosis Skate Fest was postponed due to excessive heat. Finally, after a week of cooler temps, skaters were able to do what they do best without the fear of their shoes melting.
According to a release, held at the OCNJ Skate Park, this ‘80s themed event drew lots of skaters and skate enthusiasts while offering dozens of prizes, good community interaction from OC’s men (and women) in blue and so much more.
In its third iteration, Skate Fest continues to grow, drawing hundreds of skaters from around the region. The event, while fun for one and all, also serves a great cause, raising funds and awareness for the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation.
Following the heat delay of one week, Skate Fest 2019 took place on July 27. Once the registration window closed, it was time to play! With support from Sector 9 Skateboards, participants were flying high and turning some amazing gravity-defying tricks.
Also, as the ‘80s theme dominated the day, nearly 30 awards were issued, including worst fall, best trick and best ‘80s themed costume.
“Another great event helping raise awareness and funds for a great cause,” noted CMAF president Lance Miller! “The energy at this event is always over the top and we are thrilled with the turn out, weather and competition level,” continued Miller. “Willie Fannon, a good friend and supporter of CMAF is the man behind making this event successful, special thanks to him and all the skaters.”
With the third CMAF in the books for 2019, it not only helps set the table perfectly for next year’s event, but also the remainder of CMAF events on the schedule in 2019.
Results from Skate Fest are noted below. For complete details on the CMAF awareness and fund-raising schedule, visit www.ChipMiller.org.
