Held annually, the Ocean Drive Marathon (a USATF-NJ 500 point Grand Prix event) is run on a USATF measured and certified qualifying course. This course closure directive equates to 90 minutes to pass the 5 mile mark; 2:15 to complete 10 Miles; 3:15 to complete 1/2 Marathon; and 5:30 to cross the TI drawbridge into Sea Isle City in the 24th Mile.
All participants who cross the TI Bridge in the 24th Mile by 5 1/2 hours will, upon finishing, be included among the ODM timed finishers and be eligible for awards. This ODM is, indeed, run on a qualifying course due to being measured and certified (NJ06007LMB) by the USATF, according to the Ocean Drive Marathon Web site.
All Marathon finishers receive a Finisher’s Medal and certificate. Trophies awarded to the top three finishers in all competitive events, First Place Finisher in Master’s Division (40 and over), as well as, the top 3 finishers in each 10-year age group as follows: 19 and under, 20– 29, 30 – 39, 40– 49,50– 59,60 and over.
Beneficiaries of the 12th Annual Ocean Drive Marathon are Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County, the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center and high schools in Cape May County.
Also today: the OCEAN DRIVE 10-MILER. Also a USATF-NJ 500 point Grand Prix event, the OD 10-Miler runs concurrently with the ODMarathon beginning promptly at 9 a.m. on Beach Avenue, south of Perry Street, in Cape May City. The 10-Miler Finish is at the ODM 10-Mile Mark on the Boardwalk at 18th Avenue in North Wildwood.
