EGG HARBOR CITY — John Longstreet, of Court House, won the 10-13 year-old age bracket in the Northern Atlantic Jr. Classic tournament at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club on March 29.
Longstreet shot 37 in nine holes (par 36) on a day that started partly cloudy and became sunny. He shot one bet-ter than second-place finisher John Petronis, of Northfield.
Other finishers from Cape May County included: Blake Vodges, Wildwood Crest, tied third; Dhruv Patel, Court House, seventh; Stephen Pashuk, Ocean City, eighth.
The Classic marked the official launch of the Cape Jr. Golf Tour, part of the Junior Golfers’ Association of America.
According to a release, 48 regional kids participated in the event.
Anthony Cappuccio, of Northfield, was the champion in the 6-9 age group finishing with a score of 24 in five holes. Andrew Kapp, of Avalon, finished tied for third with a 35.
In the 14 – 18 age group, Heather Patronis, of Northfield, won in a two-hole playoff with two other players that finished tied at 78 after 18 holes.
Cape May County finishers included: Shane Parker, Cape May, seventh; Kyle McMullen, Court House, tied eighth; Meghna Patel, Court House, tied 14th; Kevin O’Donnell, Court House, tied 16th; Shaun Clark, North Cape May, tied 18th; Alex Pomerantz, Wildwood Crest, 23rd; and Austin Parker, Cape May, 26th.
