The grace and elegance of some of the world’s finest horses take center stage in the Wildwoods Convention Center for two brilliant performances, Oct 30-31 as the Lipizzaner Stallions perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Lipizzaner Stallions will perform their 40th anniversary presentation of the “Dancing White Stallions,” set to in-clude many of the traditional movements and exercises presented at the world-renowned Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
A highlight of the performance is the horses’ spectacular leaps and maneuvers known as the “Airs Above the Ground” which were born in the fury of the battlefield centuries ago.
The weekend’s performances, while maintaining a classical presentation of the Lipizzaner, are also set to feature the forefather of the Lipizzaner—the Spanish Andalusian. Other exciting departures from tradition include a rousing num-ber set to the big band music of the swing era.
Over the years, more than 26 million people throughout North and South America, Europe, Australia and Hawaii have seen this internationally acclaimed spectacle. The Lipizzaner Stallion has galloped boldly out of the pages of over 425 years of history and is now preserved as an equestrian work of art, performing a unique equine ballet that has no rival.
The Lipizzan is a rare and unique breed; its history and culture is known worldwide.
The Walt Disney movie The Miracle of the White Stallions, depicting General George S. Patton saving them at the end of World War II from certain extinction, created an even greater worldwide interest in the Lipizzaner breed.
Had it not been for Patton, there would be no Lipizzans today.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and through Ticketmaster. To charge-by-phone, call 800-745-3000.
