Boys Tennis:
Top-ranked Middle Township hosted second-seeded Woodstown in the South Jersey Group I final on May 23 and won, 4-1. This is the Panthers’ first sectional title in thirty-nine years.
On May 25, they traveled north to take on Highland Park in the Group I semifinals, but fell in a close 3-2 match. The Panthers finished out the season with an impressive 19-1 record.
Golf:
On May 25, the Cape-Atlantic League Individual Golf Championships were held at Wildwood Golf and Country Club. The tournament consisted of thirty-six players from around the league, including local students from Middle Township, Wildwood Catholic, Lower Cape May and Ocean City. The top winners from the day were Egg Harbor Township’s Eric DeKarski and Atlantic City’s Mike Lange, who each shot 73.

Baseball:
In South Group I playoff action on May 23, third-ranked Wildwood hosted fourteenth-ranked Maple Shade and won, 3-1. Billy Bolle had eight strike-outs for the Warriors. Seventh-ranked Cape May Tech fell 8-4 at home against tenth-ranked Woodbury. Kyle Eppright went two-for-four and had two RBIs for the Hawks.
In South Group II action, seventh-ranked Lower Cape May hosted tenth-ranked Manchester Township and fell, 2-1. Josh Meyer pitched a complete game for the Caper Tigers. Ninth-ranked Middle Township fell 4-0 on the road at eighth-ranked Barnegat. Matt Harris had a hit for the Panthers.
In South Group III action, top-ranked Ocean City hosted last-ranked Absegami and won, 13-5. Sean Mooney had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs for the Red Raiders.
In regular season action on May 24, Lower Cape May traveled to Atlantic County Institute of Technology and fell, 7-0. Wildwood fell 11-9 at Gloucester City.
On May 25, Wildwood traveled to LEAP Academy and won, 11-1. Winning pitcher JD Cammarrano earned his first varsity win.
In South Group I quarterfinal action on May 26, third-ranked Wildwood hosted eleventh-ranked Burlington City and won, 7-1. Winning pitcher Chris Mormile struck-out eighteen in the complete game, no hitter for the Warriors.
In South Group III quarterfinal action, top-ranked Ocean City hosted ninth-ranked Central Regional and won, 7-1. Winning pitcher Sean Mooney had nine strike-outs.
In regular season action on May 26, Lower Cape May traveled to Bridgeton and won, 21-5.Bobby Smith went four-for-four, had three RBIs and two runs scored for the Caper Tigers.
Softball:
In South Group II playoff action on May 23, ninth-ranked Middle Township traveled to eighth-ranked Cedar Creek and won, 6-5. Montanna Gallagher had the game winning run, went two-for-two and two RBIs for the Panthers.
In South Group III action on May 24, twelfth-ranked Ocean City traveled to fifth-ranked Mainland and fell, 14-4. Rachel Zeides had a home run for the Red Raiders.
In regular season action on May 24, Middle Township hosted Lower Cape May and won, 10-3. Wildwood Catholic won 3-0 at Cape May Tech. Winning pitcher Emily Cimino had thirteen strike-outs for the Crusaders.
In South Group II quarterfinals on May 25, ninth-ranked Middle Township traveled to top-ranked West Deptford and fell, 11-4.
In regular season action on May 26, Lower Cape May hosted Cape May Tech and won, 11-6. Alexis Donnelly went three-for-four, had two RBIs, a double and scored a run for the Caper Tigers. Jaclyn Gehring had three hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Hawks. Wildwood Catholic hosted Buena Regional and won, 4-3. Anna Mae Peterson had a hit, a double and two RBIs for the Crusaders. Middle Township won 8-7 at Cedar Creek. Maddie Ellis had two hits, a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Panthers.
Girls Lacrosse:
On May 23, Lower Cape May won 15-2 at home over Our Lady of Mercy Academy. Amanda Durbin led the Caper Tigers with three goals.
In South Group I quarterfinal action on May 23, fourth-ranked Middle Township hosted fifth-rank Pingry and fell, 19-16. Jenna Herlihy led the Panthers with six goals.
In South Group III quarterfinal action, fifth-ranked Ocean City traveled to fourth-ranked Allentown and fell, 15-9. Emily DiMarino led the Red Raiders with three goals.
