Coast Guard CPOA ‘Move 4 the Memorial’ Run Scheduled for Oct. 11

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – The Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association is scheduled to hold the 2nd annual Move 4 the Memorial run, Saturday, in Cape May to raise funds for a memorial honoring enlisted members of the Coast Guard who have died in service to their country.
Move 4 the Memorial will offer a 10-mile, 10K, and a 5K run that will follow along Cape May Harbor and onto the Coast Guard Training Center. There are currently 400 runners signed up for the event. Participants can still register online before Saturday. Runners who register online will pay $15 for the race, $10 if they are high school age or younger. Runners who register on race day will pay $25.
“This event is for a great cause,” said Master Chief Petty Officer Robert Berry, the battalion commander at the Coast Guard Training Center. “Not only will it be a fun event that offers a scenic run that any level of runner could enjoy, but the money raised will help build the only memorial in the country that collectively honors our fallen shipmates.”
The CPOA is sponsoring the event for the Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation, Inc., in order to raise money for planning, designing and building a fitting memorial that will represent the immense sacrifice of more than 1,500 Coast Guard enlisted men and women who lost their lives in performance of Coast Guard missions.
The Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization consisting of volunteer active duty, reserve, auxiliary, retired service and civilian members.
