Cape May Tech Soccer Teams Working Toward Success This Season

Let there be no doubt, the Cape May County Tech High School soccer programs (girls and boys teams) prepared diligently and consistently during the preseason and are ready to step onto the field for regular-season matches.
Let’s take a close look at each squad.
 Cape May County Tech Boys Soccer:
After completing 2018 with a record of 9-8 and advancing to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group I Sectional Tournament where they were defeated by Palmyra, the Hawks are training toward their goals on the pitch this fall.
 Key returning student athletes to the varsity level include Anthony Paluch (defense, senior), Jamie Butler (defense, senior), Scotty Wiltshire (midfield, senior), Luke Rullo (midfield, senior), Zach Kershaw (forward, senior), Lucas Gehring (goalkeeper, sophomore), Jacob Perez (forward, junior) and Joel Sheptock (midfield, junior).
  Newcomers hoping to make an impact on the varsity roster include Matt Panzini (midfield, sophomore), Ian Cardaci (defense, senior) and Trevor Tozour (defense, senior).
  “Zach Kershaw, team captain, led the team in the offseason to work hard, and continues to motivate the players,’’ said Head Coach Jon Harris. “Anthony Paluch is the hardest worker on the team, and plays as the on-field coach.’’
  The Hawks compete in the Cape Atlantic League (CAL) United Division along with Holy Spirit, Buena, St. Joseph’s (Hammonton), Wildwood Catholic, and Pleasantville. Coach Harris sees his team as being a spoiler in the United Division, and believes that Pleasantville and Buena will be among the top teams to beat.
  Cape May County Tech will host Wildwood Catholic Sept. 10.
  “[We want to] communicate more to help guide each other to succeed on the field, make it past the first round of the (NJSIAA) playoffs, continue to build on the success from last year,’’ Harris added.
 Cape May County Tech Girls Soccer:
  The Hawks are working hard on the field to improve upon last season’s record.
Key returning athletes who are varsity tested include Sarah Schall, Katie Kepple, Alyssa Hicks, Alejandra Garcia, April Merlino, Sammi Jenison, Hailey Pinto and Jaelyn Baxter.
 Among the newcomers looking to impact the varsity roster are Paige Dooley, Darcie Francisco, Emily Pasceri and Allysa Gery.
  The Hawks compete in the CAL United Division along with Buena, Holy Spirit, Pleasantville, St. Joesph’s (Hammonton), Our Lady of Mercy and Wildwood Catholic.
  They will host Lindenwold Sept. 9.
