Area Wins from Opening Week: Sept. 4-10

The Wildwood Catholic girls soccer team hosted Cape May Tech on Sept. 6 in Stone Harbor.

Wins from the area in soccer, field hockey and tennis from the first week of the fall season:
Girls Soccer
The defending South Jersey Group III champion Ocean City defeated Cedar Creek 6-1 for the first win of the season on Sept. 4. Faith Slimmer led the Red Raiders with three goals and an assist.
Wildwood Catholic hosted Cape May Tech on Sept. 6 and won, 6-0. Ivy Bolle, Marianna Papazoglou, Kimmy Casiello, Mia Caso, Bella Feraco, Bella Orlowicz and Tallula Rogers each scored for the Crusaders.
Ocean City blanked visiting Absegami, 6-0, on Sept. 6. Carly Reighard led the Red Raiders with two goals and an assist with Faith Slimmer adding a goal and two assists.
Lower Cape May blanked Cape May Tech, 7-0, on Sept. 8 for their first win. Chloe Lawler had a hat trick for the Caper Tigers with Madison Owens adding two goals and two assists.
Ocean City hosted Middle Township on Sept. 10 and won, 3-0. Faith Slimmer led the Red Raiders with two goals. Brynn Brock had ten saves in net for the Panthers.
 
Boys Soccer
Cape May Tech won their first game 7-1 on the road at Holy Spirit on Sept. 4. Cooper Gehring and Mike Brown each scored two goals for the Hawks.
Ocean City blanked Cedar Creek 5-0 on opening day. John Lindsay and Matt Brook each tallied twice for the Red Raiders.
Cape May Tech earned their second victory on Sept. 6 by defeating visiting Wildwood Catholic, 6-4. Jacob Perez had a hat trick and Mike Brown scored two goals for the Hawks. Matt Vogdes had two goals for the Crusaders.
Luke Varallo led Ocean City with two goals in the team’s 4-2 win at Absegami on Sept. 6. John Lindsay added a goal and an assist for the Red Raiders.
Wildwood won their first game, 1-0, on Sept. 7 against Gloucester Tech. Will Long had the game-winning Warrior goal.
Lower Cape May earned their first victory of the season, 2-1, at Cape May Tech on Sept. 8. Jordan Pierce and Donovan Richardson each scored for the Caper Tigers. Mike Brown assisted Cooper Gehring’s goal for the Hawks.
Field Hockey
Lower Cape May won their first game 1-0 at Absegami on Sept. 5. Reese Bracken scored the game winning goal for the Caper Tigers.
Ocean City won 6-1 against Vineland on Sept. 7 for their first win. Reese Bloomstead had three goals for the Red Raiders.
In Sept. 10 action, Lower Cape May won 2-0 against Millville. Maya Critchfield and Anna Franklin scored for the Caper Tigers.
Girls Tennis
In Sept. 5 action, Middle Township swept Buena Regional, 5-0, at home. Ocean City won 4-1 against Absegami. Lower Cape May swept county rival Wildwood Catholic, 5-0.
On Sept. 7, Lower Cape May won 4-1 at Buena Regional.
