PETERSBURG — Beacon Animal Rescue hosted a fall festival with the goal to introduce the community to the shelters animals and staff on Saturday, Oct 18.
Beacon Animal Rescue, 701 Butter Road in Upper Township, prides itself on rescuing domestic animals that are about to be euthanized in other shelters, giving them the care they need, and finding homes for them.
The shelter had children’s activities through the day with special appearances by the 501st Legion, a costuming organization of Star Wars fans that provides free appearances to help non-profit organizations with fund raising.
The shelter had a successful adoption day according to the shelter’s manager Al Reese, who was excited three animals were adopted at the event. “Three adopted in one day is a good day for us,” he said.
Two dogs were adopted from a family in North Jersey who saw the dogs on petfinder.com, a site that hosts many of the animals at Beacon that are available for adoption.
Information on donations or adoptions can be found on Beacon’s Web site: www.beaconanimalrescue.org. It includes photos of pets available for adoption.
