AVALON — A total of 74 skunks have been removed from the borough since Sept. 28, Business Administrator Andrew Bednarek told Borough Council Nov. 24.
Skunks took a trip inland to Tuckahoe Wildlife Management Area and another approved wildlife management area within county, he said.
The critters were collected from broad areas throughout the island including private residences and the commercial district, Council President Charles Covington said.
The effort to remove skunks from the borough will continue with plans for another sweep in spring 2010 through an interlocal agreement with Middle Township, Bednarek said.
“We’re very grateful to have partners in Middle Township,” he said.
Stone Harbor also participated in the island-wide skunk relocation program. The Herald anticipates those figures.
Residents who want to request a skunk removal should call their local police department to dispatch an animal control officer.
