Middle Township Police Report Rabid Fox in Reeds Beach Area

COURT HOUSE – A Reeds Beach resident reported being chased by a fox while on Reeds Beach Road May 3. Officers responded to the area to check for the fox, but were unable to locate the animal. Residents on Reeds Beach have reported seeing the fox in the area, and believe the fox has rabies.
Symptoms of rabies include, but are not limited to, stumbling or wobbly movement, overly friendly behavior, lethargy, paralysis, extreme aggression or excess salivation. Additionally, seeing a nocturnal mammal such as a raccoon or skunk that is active during daylight hours and exhibiting one or more of the above symptoms should be reported. If you should see a wild or stray animal exhibiting these symptoms call Middle Township Animal Control at 609-465-8700.
