West Cape May’s 54th Christmas Parade Celebrates Holiday Season

Twirling flags

By Al Campbell

WEST CAPE MAY – It was a cold night Dec. 7, but that didn’t deter well-wishers of all ages from lining Broadway to watch the 54th annual Christmas parade.
Scores of fire trucks, floats, and marching units helped escort Santa to the borough.
The U.S. Coast Guard Training Center was represented by its color guard, band and a recruit company.
There were visiting high school bands from West Deptford and Camden, as well as local ones, including Richard M. Teitelman School, Lower Cape May Regional High School, and Cape May City Elementary School.
Fire companies from throughout the county joined the merriment with decorated trucks and floats.
Parking was at a premium, but the City of Cape May opened its parking lots for free public parking to alleviate the burden of finding a precious spot for a vehicle.
