When I was a child my mother always placed a stained glass star at the top of our tree. As the years passed and I grew older, I asked my mother if we could put an angel on the tree top instead of the same old star.
My mother said that the star belonged to her mother and before that her grandmother. My mother told me that the star meant something very special to her.
As the days grew closer to Christmas I ran to my room after school, as I did most days. To my surprise as I opened the door, there stood a small tree on my dresser with a very beautiful angel adorning the top of the tree.
So every Christmas from then on I had my very own Christmas tree with the angel on top.
