Sea Isle Announces Holiday House Lighting Winners

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Each year, the Sea Isle City Garden Club joins forces with Sea Isle’s recreation department to host a holiday house lighting contest. The annual competition inspires many homeowners to hang extra strings of lights and install additional candles in their windows, all of which adds to the city’s already festive holiday atmosphere.
The top two winners in this year’s contest received cash prizes courtesy of 1st Bank of Sea Isle City, including $100 for first place, which was awarded to the DiLossi family, 134 72nd St. The Kutschera family, 140-142 45th St., received $50 for second place.
The Kehner family, of 107 33rd St., were the third place winners. They received a floral arrangement courtesy of Rocky and Fred’s Creative Design Florists of Sea Isle City.
According to Eleanor Moore, who was one of the five Garden Club members judging the contest, choosing a winner was not an easy process this year.
“All of the houses that were registered were lovely and made our decision very difficult,” said Moore. “The DiLossi’s house was beautifully decorated with many lights, and the Kutscheras’ had lights from their fences to their rooflines as well. We also enjoyed the Kehners’ illuminated wreaths and colorful lights, which were very cheery.”
Moore added that many homes in Sea Isle City could have been contenders in this year’s competition however they were not entered to win.
“While driving through Sea Isle City on the night we selected our winners, we passed many well-lit homes that were not entered in the contest,” Moore said. “We hope that each of those properties will be registered in next year’s competition. Sea Isle has many homes that look wonderful at Christmas.”
To choose the winners, judges used a point system to rate aesthetics, effort and overall appearance. Judging for this year’s competition took place on Dec. 9.
