The holiday was coming up
So we knew the kids were due
There was so much preparation
For this excellent motley crew
We would change the beds and clean the house
To make it look like new
We don’t know why we bother
For they leave a mess its true
We will buy some snacks, some little gifts
Bring in lots of good fun, too!
Then we’ll catch up on all the news
Finding out just what is new
It’s fun to see the little ones
We now have quite a few
Of course they are so brilliant
We will marvel at how they grew
We will play our games, talking all at once
Making sure that no one’s blue
Except for us, when they all go home
And we wonder just where the time flew!
