I hear the pitter-patter of sneaky little feet.
As two little kids come down the stairs to take a peek.
I see their faces smile with joy.
As the littlest one whispers, “Oh Boy!”
I too smile from pure delight.
As I hide deeper out of sight.
Santa Claus was here!
One yells out loud and clear.
I watch as time drifts slowly by.
I want these moments to last I sigh.
All of a sudden a shadow appears.
The children turn as it nears.
They knew they had been caught.
When the lights go on without second thought.
Daddy! They cry out.
As they start to turn about.
I come out of the shadows from which I hid.
My children ran to me as I did.
Through the windows comes the morning sun.
And I knew that Christmas day had just begun.
