Angelus Chorus of Court House Celebrates Christmas with Free Concerts

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The 65-voice Angelus Chorus celebrates its 50th year of concerts with a program of carols, anthems, and songs about “angels.” Five public concerts give this popular group a busy season and opportunities for the community to enjoy traditional music and Christmas Scriptures (from the story of the angels in Luke chapter 2).
All concerts are free and open to the public:
Sunday, December 7, 1:30 pm, Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Rd., Lower Township.
Monday, December 8, 7:15 pm, Cape May United Methodist Church, 635 Washington St., Cape May.
Saturday, December 13, 4:00 pm, Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Ave., Ocean City
This concert includes the Tapestry String Quartet and guest tenor soloist John Taylor.
Sunday, December 14, 3;00 pm, Our Lady of Angels, Mechanic Street at Garden State Parkway, CMCH.
Wednesday, December 17, 7:00 pm, Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Ave., Cape May.
Repertoire ranges from Michael W. Smith’s popular “Christmastime” to Mozart’s classic “Gloria.” “Angels from the Realms of Glory” is treated to a back-tempo blues and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” comes to life with four hands at the piano. John Rutter’s gentle “Angels’ Carol” is balanced with a rollicking French carol, “Masters in this Hall.” The men of the chorus “Sing Noel” and the women promise to be “Home for the Holidays.”
Richard Stanislaw is the director, with Ruth Fritsch at the piano (joined by Loretta Saggiomo), Gretchen Sorensen on flute, and Edie Ludlam, assistant director.
