A Gift of Family

By Kathleen O'Neill

I have the most beautiful Christmas story.
I was adopted in 1953. My life was wonderful; my adoptive parents are who I call mine. I always wondered who do I look like? What are my real mom and dad like?
Well, I found out this year. I used an ancestry DNA test, and through research, I found I have four sisters and a brother.
My parents, dad was in Korea and mom went to New York to give me up for adoption.
When he came home from the war, they married and had my family. I have spoken with all of them and cannot wait to see them and hug all of them.
This is such a blessing and is the best Christmas gift I have ever received.
It has been 64 years. I am truly blessed but doubly now.
O’Neill writes from Cape May.
