COURT HOUSE — County residents who have not received a flu shot are reminded that they may get their free flu shots Nov. 18.
The final drive-through flu clinic will be held for residents 16 years and older from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kindle Ford on Stone Harbor Boulevard.
Each person getting the flu shot needs to bring a signed patient consent form with them. Forms are available at the Department of Health, online at www.cmchealth.net, in this week‘s Herald, and in most pharmacies.
“Residents should wear a short-sleeved shirt, leave pets at home, and drive through Kindle Ford and get their flu shot. You don’t even have to leave your car. Past experience has shown that the more full cars there are, the less time people have to wait, so try to car pool with your family and friends. Most persons at the first drive-through clinic told us they waited about 20 minutes,” Health Officer Kevin Thomas stated in a release.
Persons needing assistance with transportation to the drive-through clinics can call Fare Free transportation at 889-3700.
Persons with an allergy to eggs or Thimerosal (preservative in the vaccine) need a prescription from their physician to receive the flu vaccine others do not.
For those with children younger than 16 years, the Department of Health will be offering free flu shots for children aged 6 months to 18 years and their parents on Nov. 27 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Department of Health, Moore Road, Crest Haven.
The 2007 Flu Clinics are sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders and are administered by the Cape May County Department of Health.
