County Hosts Healthcare Resource Day

Cape May County Freeholder Kristine Gabor is pleased to invite the public to the county’s annual Healthcare Resource Day to take place on Saturday, April 23 at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
The free Healthcare Resource Day sponsored by the Cape May County Health Department will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On hand will be key county departments that play a role in meeting community health needs such as Crest Heaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the Office of Aging and Disability Services.
Additionally, there will be free screenings by the Parish Nurse Program of the Cape Regional Medical Center for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and peripheral artery disease and fracture risk.
A major highlight of the day will be a presentation by a local expert on nutrition; 11:00 a.m. – “Eating Better on a Budget,” Associate Professor Marilou Rochford, Rutgers University.
In addition, there will be more than 30 exhibitors representing various health services provided to county residents. There will be exhibits from nonprofit organizations and volunteer groups such as Volunteers in Medicine, NJ Shares, Brendan’s Fund and Gilda’s Club. Equally important will be an array of private sector exhibitors including the Family Success Center of Cape May County, Synergy Home Care. There will also be exhibits on important healthcare services within the county, including The ARC of Cape May County, South Jersey Aids Alliance and Cape Regional Medical Center.
Admission is free to all and there will be plenty of free parking. For additional information, please call 463-6521.
