The Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) added a new MRI to its Vineland office that delivers uncompromised image quality and high productivity with an expansive 50cm field of view. The new MRI unit is the best in the region, with faster scan times and feet first imaging. The new MRI can accommodate patients up to 500 pounds and those with mobility issues are helped with the use of a detachable table. The bigger bore is ideal for patients who may feel claustrophobic in traditional MRI units.
“The 1.5T field strength is the industry’s best-known, and the bore diameter and field of view make MRI scans accessible to very large patients and those who feel confined during these studies,” said Dr. Shailendra Desai of CDI.
While most MRI procedures require that a patient lay perfectly still during the scan, the Vineland unit has motion correction. This feature can cut down on scan times.
Unlike conventional x-ray examinations and computer tomography (CT) scans, MRI does not depend on radiation. Instead, while in the magnet, radio waves are transmitted. A computer then processes the signals and generates a series of images, each of which shows a “slice” of the body. The images can then be studied from different angles by the doctor. An MRI is better at showing the difference between diseased tissue from normal tissue than x-rays, CT scans and ultrasound.
“The new MRI provides patient comfort without compromising quality or capabilities,” Dr. Ernesto Go, M.D. of CDI said. “It combines the benefits of an ultra-wide patient bore with a superconducting magnet and a comprehensive suite of software applications. This MRI represents the ideal combination of quality and patient comfort.”
Another advantage of visiting the center is Vineland is convenience. Patients have a short walk to the facility compared to hospital radiology departments. It’s just one more way that CDI sets itself apart.
“The advanced functionality of our new MRI gives clinicians the tools they need to make definitive diagnoses,” said Dr. Ajay Munjal of CDI. “We are focused on providing uncompromising quality to our patients without making them give up comfort.”
