COURT HOUSE – The Bumper “T” Caring Clown Program at Cape Regional Medical Center has proudly graduated two new certified Funnyboneologists, “DR B. Happy (George Wasser) and DR Blarney Stone (Dan Meenan). “DR Gizmo” (Bill Smigo) officiated over the graduation as the newly-certified clowns promised to dedicate their time to providing humor that heals and to bring smiles and giggles to patients, visitors and staff alike.
George Wasser (a.k.a. DR B. Happy) lives in Cape May Court House, New Jersey and has four children and six grandchildren. George is a United States Navy Veteran as well as a former Patient Feeder Volunteer. Dan Meenan (a.k.a. DR Blarney Stone), and his wife, Jo, live in Ocean View, New Jersey and have three children and seven grandchildren. Dan served in the United States Air Force and is a retired hydraulic specialist.
“DR B. Happy” and “DR Blarney Stone” join the ranks of “DR Ann T. Pasta” (Maria Leonard), “DR Buttons & Bows” (Barbara Tyburski), “DR Sunny” (Paul Tyburski), “DR Gizmo” (Bill Smigo), “DR Daffi Dill” (Carol Campana), and “DR Bluebird Two” (Margaret Yarosh) within Cape Regional Medical Center’s Bumper “T” Caring Clowns Program.
“Bumper “T” Caring Clowns are volunteers dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of hospitalized patients, their families, friends and caregivers. They help to nurture patients’ spirits, ease some of the stress they feel, and they play a unique role in providing a pleasant diversion during a patient’s stay,” stated Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services. Bumper “T” Caring Clowns have been visiting patients at Cape Regional Medical Center since January, 2007.
