MAYS LANDING – AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Professional Development and Recognition Council (PDRC) recognized Jeannette Alcantara, of Mays Landing, as its 2012 Amanda Scholarship Fund recipient May 11 at ARMC’s Atlantic City Campus. Alcantara, a nursing student at Atlantic Cape Community College, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for nursing school. Family and friends of the late Amanda Cortopassi, a nursing student who passed away in 2005, established the Amanda Scholarship Fund in her memory.
Alcantara was chosen based on academic achievement, an essay submission and letters of recommendation. The Amanda Scholarship Fund sponsors students pursuing a nursing career. Candidates must be AtlantiCare staff or a dependent of an AtlantiCare employee, and be enrolled in a prelicensure nursing program.
