If you are suffering a case of the winter doldrums, I suggest you go fishing. Pick a sunny, crisp day, and bundle up; the tautog (tog) are waiting for you.
Captain Adam Crouthamel, ADAM BOMB III, ventured out of Snug Harbor, on a day that would test any fisher. He was iced in a bit but the marina owner cleared “Dutch Harbor” (aka Deadliest Catch TV show) so he could get out and dodge the ice flows. Once in Cape May Inlet, conditions got a little better.
Tom Schad, Frank “Napoli'” Jayburd, Spooled, Jeff Glen, and MJBITES were aboard. Fishing in a water depth of 80, with a temperature of 36-39 degrees, seas rolling at one foot or less, they caught their limit of beautiful tog.
Captain took the boat out again and Tom Salerno, Anthony Petrucci, and Lenny Capone caught their limit of fish on Jan. 16. A 19.5-pound fish was caught on Jan. 19 by Lenny Fennimore. This fish was in addition to a 11.75-pound fish taken by Lenny, among others for the boat.

NEWS: On Feb. 24, at noon, members from RFA, Conservation Cooperative of Gulf Fishermen, United Boatmen, New York Sportfishing Federation, Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen’s Association, Save the Summer Flounder Fishery Fund (SSFFF), Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) and the Fishing Rights Alliance, and other concerned fishers, men and women, will rally on the steps of the Capitol in an organized demonstration against the unintended negative impacts of the Magnuson Stevens Conservation and Management Act (MSA).
“With the participation and support of anglers like you, the RFA believes we can encourage more Senators and Congressmen to sign on to valuable legislation, supporting real science based management and the conservation of our marine resources while also being able to sustain recreational fishing activities along our coasts.” (Flexibility in Rebuilding American Fisheries Act of 2009, HR 1584 sponsor Rep. Frank Pallone and supported by 25 additional co-sponsors; Senate version, S1255, sponsor Sen. Charles Schumer and cosponsor Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.)
