Anglers are waiting for the stripers to move in and in the meantime, blues, triggers, kingfish, and weakies are being caught. Tautog, too if you can find them (Limit one until Nov. 15)
Captain Dan Schafer left the dock with Anthony and Richie and found bass schooled in clear water at literally every stop. Double hook ups, bass following plugs all the way to the boats with fish in two and threes. They rounded out the day with some drop and reel togging action with two nice fish for the box and a hard fighting surprise: a black drum that Richie hooked. A few quick pics and release ended another stellar morning of fishing.
The next day, Captain Dan took Sean and Gene out despite a steady north wind. Dan says after hitting the last of the incoming tide and getting tossed around in a two foot chop, they headed for more sheltered waters and found the bass schooled and on the feed. For the remainder of the trip the fish hit well with many double hook ups with some phenomenal fights.
The cooler water definitely has them in that must eat mode. Captain can’t wait to get back out since it’s pretty much full on, on all fronts. Togging has really picked with multiple species mixed in and the steady stream of new bass invading the marsh.
“This is fall at its finest and it’s only going to get better from here on.”
