WILDWOOD CREST – Broadway is set to come to Wildwood Crest Wed., July 4.
In a special concert as part of the Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series, Trisha Rapier and the Barry Levitt Trio are set to perform 90 minutes of Broadway show tunes beginning at 7:30 p.m. at beautiful Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.
Rapier is currently performing eight shows per week on Broadway in the new smash musical “Sister Act.” She plays Sister Mary Martin of Tours and serves as understudy for Tony Award winner Victoria Clark in the starring role of Mother Superior. Rapier’s other credits include Broadway’s “The Boy From Oz,” starring Hugh Jackman; the national tour of “The Who’s Tommy;” off-Broadway’s “Forbidden Broadway,” “Forbidden Hollywood,” “NEWSical,” “Pirates of Penzance” and “Shout, the Mod Musical;” as well as regional productions of “Evita,” “Crazy For You,” “Guys and Dolls,” “The Full Monty,” “Caroline or Change” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” Rapier has been a recipient of the prestigious Spotlight of Award of the Los Angeles Music Center and the Carol Burnett Award of the University of California at Los Angeles. She has been described as a “young, sexy Carol Burnett with a serious set of pipes” and a performer who “will floor you with the clarity and stylistic range of her voice. Inside her petite body rages the voice of a classical, pop and gospel singer.”
Backing Rapier will be the talented Barry Levitt Trio, led by Barry Levitt, a highly skilled and respected music director, accompanist, arranger and producer. Levitt’s credits include former artistic director of the 92nd Street Y’s famed “Lyrics and Lyricists Series” and “Catskills on Broadway.” He has served as music director and accompanist for such artists as Ben Vereen, Rosemary Clooney, Melba Moore, Nell Carter, Connie Francis, Eartha Kitt and many more.
