OCEAN CITY – Coming This Summer: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ferguson-Foglio, Post 6650 will bring “Beatlemania Now,” a tribute to the legendary Beatles, to the Music Pier on July 2 at 8 p.m. The New York Daily News calls the show “Extraordinary!” in recreating the Beatle experience. Tickets are $18 and will be on sale May 26 at www.ocnj.us or at the Music Pier Box Office 609-525-9248.
The VFW is seeking local business and corporate financial and advertising sponsorship of this event. This is a local fundraising endeavor. The VFW intends to use all proceeds within the community to the fullest extent possible.
The VFW is a non profit organization. All donations are tax deductible. It is the largest organization of American combat veterans. Its mission is to assist local veterans in need, support active duty armed forces personnel and local community activities.

(May 12) The Ocean City Arts Center, 17th and Simpson Ave., will host a spring performing arts recital from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program will feature entertainers from pre-school children to senior citizens who have taken advantage of the Center’s many classes.
There will be dance, guitar and piano students ranging in age from 4 years to teenagers. The Center’s adult Zumba Class will demonstrate the popular new exercise program.
Ball Room Dance students will demonstrate their grace and agility.
In between programs listen to the music of the Lenny B. Duo featuring the Art Center’s Drum teacher, Robert Boney.
Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.
The recital is presented by the Center’s performing arts teachers including Ballroom Dance instructor, Edward Fischer, also event coordinator, piano instructor, LeLand Kuchler, Guitar teachers, Rob Gummel, Ken Wilson, Kyle Kuchler and Ed McCabe, Zumba teacher, Charlotte Mitchell and dance teacher, Brooke Parsons.

(May 12-13) Mothers Day Weekend: “Mothers Are Special in O.C.” flower give aways to all moms at participating downtown stores while they last.
(May 13) 15th Annual Mothers Day Family Concert: West Chester Senior Strings Conducted by Charles dePasquale, 4 p.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Admission free. Sponsored by the Ocean City Art Center’s Friends of Music in memory of Esther C. Weil.
(June 1-Sept. 4) The Ocean City Historical Museum, 17th and Simpson Ave., will present an extensive exhibit about the 1962 Nor’ Easter, “When the Bay Met the Ocean.” The Museum will be exhibiting photographs of the devastation. Those who experienced the storm are asked to bring stories, news articles, photographs or objects to add to the exhibit. The Museum will compile the reactions of survivors and relate their stories in a book to be published once all material is compiled.
The Ocean Pops has scheduled another outstanding season of music that will kick-off with a concert featuring Grammy Award Winning artist, Debbie Boone, on June 24 at the Music Pier. The Music Pier Box Office opens Sat., May 19 at 9 a.m. for the sale of individual tickets.

Attention Doggie Owners: Barks on the Boards, a fun time for all canines, is set for May 27. Your pooch can walk the boards from noon till 2 p.m. At 1 p.m., there will be a contest in front of the Music Pier to determine the largest and smallest dog, most talented trickster, pet owner look alike, etc. The event is sponsored by the Ocean City Humane Society, a no kill shelter named one of the best in the country for its size.

Ocean City’s Nancy Fox is founder of Opera Fest International, an outstanding exchange program that takes young singing talent to Germany to perform and brings young German talent to Ocean City. There will be a fund raising event at the Ocean City Yacht Club on Wed., May 23 at 7 p.m. to support Nancy’s program. It will feature a buffet of chocolate desserts, a musical preview of this year’s piece celebrating the American Cowboy and more.
