AVALON – ‘Old timers’ may remember when you had to drive by the Marina at Avalon Anchorage on your way in and out of town—before the route was switched to 30th Street. If you owned a boat, you probably also passed this historic landmark every day you were out on the water. The Marina at Avalon Anchorage is open once again including its award-winning breakfast restaurant and new this year – dinners and raw bar will be served Thursday thru Monday from 4 p.m. to 9p.m.
Serving boaters since the 1950s, the Marina at Avalon Anchorage was a place that realtor Travis Marshall remembered from his childhood. “We drove by it every day when I was a kid,” he said. “It’s a fantastic site with magnificent views.” Not only did he spend time and money cleaning up and repairing the infrastructure, he brought back Holly B. Reeves as restaurant manager. Reeves was responsible for the restaurant’s 2006 and 2008 ‘Best of the Shore’ award from Philadelphia Magazine. Reeves plans on creating the weekly menu around fresh ingredients, locally sourced if possible.
