The Celts invade Historic Cold Spring Village

By On Deck Staff

Scotland and Ireland march into Historic Cold Spring Village’s 5th Annual Celtic Festival, June 6-7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The festival includes over three staging areas of live musical entertainment and interactive demonstrations, food and craft vendors, and a pub area with all-day live music.
“Celtic Fest has grown to be one of our most popular and anticipated events,” says HCSV executive director Anne Salvatore.
General admission for this event is $6, or guests can purchase a special two-day admission pass for $10 so they can enjoy both days of the festival and the varied entertainment lineups.
Saturday performances include traditional Scottish dance workshops and ‘Down Jersey’ Jim Albertson will be performing Scottish and Irish sea shanties and folksongs.
Sunday’s highlights include traditional music by Charlie Zahm throughout the day at the Marshallville Schoolhouse and Robert Mouland will present ‘Legacy of the Irish Harp’ demonstrations.
Several favorites will entertain both days of the event, including Nae Breeks Pipes & Drums (which is comprised of members from the popular Atlantic City Sandpipers Band), Gibson School of Irish Dance, Book of Kells storytelling, and Pete McDonald the Irish Balladeer providing lively music at the pub tent throughout the festival.
A dance troupe specializing in Spanish-Celtic dancing from the Galician region of Spain will be joining the festival, as well as the 69th PA Irish Volunteers who will be providing a living history encampment of Civil War life.
The event is held on grounds only and the main buildings are closed, however, guests can catch special demonstrations from the Village Blacksmith in the J. Finley Blacksmith Shop. The Welcome Center, Country Store, Ice Cream Parlor and Bakery will also be open, as will the Old Grange Restaurant, featuring an Irish Buffet.
