Stockton PAC expands children’s shows

The Stockton Performing Arts Center has announced that they will move its Children’s Summer Playhouse Series to the Ocean City Music Pier for the summer of 2009.
Two years ago, the City of Ocean City and the Stockton Performing Arts Center partnered to bring four concerts to the famed Ocean City Music Pier.
In 2008 this effort was expanded to include nine concerts including a very successful December concert by pianist George Winston.
For 2009, Stockton is again expanding its performances to add four new Children’s shows. The Children’s shows will be performed on Wednesday’s in July.
All tickets are $9 and may be ordered online at ocnj.us, by calling 609-525-9300 or purchased at City Hall at the corner of Asbury Avenue and 9th Street.
Tickets to all four shows also are available at a subscription package price of $27. The performances include:
• Pushcart Players: “Happily Ever After,” Wednesday, July 8, 10:30 a.m.
“Happily Ever After” is based on the classic tale, “Cinderella.”
• The Gizmo Guys, Wednesday, July 15, 10:30 a.m.
The Gizmo Guys’ are comedy jugglers whose humor reaches audiences of all ages – from toddlers to great-grandparents.
• Theatreworks USA’s Jim West: “Dinosaurs,” Wednesday, July 22, 10:30 a.m.
Jim West is back with the puppet extravaganza, “Dinosaurs!” Fossil, the dinosaur detective, mixes fun and facts in this colossal show inspired by everyone’s favorite prehistoric creatures.
• Hudson Valley Puppets: Butterfly, The Story of a Lifecycle, July 29, 10:30 a.m.
Take a microscopic look at the insect world on the big stage. From her tiny egg we will follow the Monarch Butterfly as she grows through her caterpillar state and makes the amazing metamorphosis in the chrysalis and her incredible 1,500-mile journey to Mexico.
