Spectacular laser show to highlight Boat Parade

By On Deck Staff

A spectacular multimedia laser show along Sunset Lake will highlight the grand finale of the 21st annual Greater Wildwoods Christmas in July Boat Parade on Saturday, July 18.
The Greater Wildwoods Christmas in July Boat Parade is an island-wide event scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in North Wildwood. A parade of boats, all decorated for the Christmas season, will proceed from the back bays of North Wildwood through Wildwood and the northern portion of Wildwood Crest before finishing in Wildwood Crest’s Sunset Lake between 9 and 9:30 p.m.
Grand finale ceremonies at Sunset Lake begin at 7 p.m. Michael James, singing Christmas favorites and other popular tunes, will provide musical entertainment while the crowd eagerly awaits the arrival of the parade of boats decorated for the holidays.
Along with the live entertainment, the grand finale will also feature children’s and family activities, including a moon bounce, Karaoke with the Faz, Woody the Stilt Walker and face painting.
In addition, the famous Hegeman String Band, straight from the Mummers’ Parade in Philadelphia, will make an appearance and play everyone’s favorite New Year’s Day tunes. The string band will also appear and perform at various places along the boat parade route earlier in the evening, beginning at Sunset Bay restaurant in North Wildwood at 7 p.m.
The multimedia laser show will be performed by Image Engineering, a world renowned special effects company that has provided laser shows and special effects for dozens of professional sports teams, major concerts, the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, the grand opening of the Wildwoods Convention Center and much more.
Parts of New Jersey Avenue at Sunset Lake will be blocked off to traffic in order to enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the festivities. Sunset Lake is located along New Jersey Avenue between Rambler and Miami roads in Wildwood Crest.
