Sea Isle City Makes Plans for Fourth of July Weekend

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle City’s Fourth of July Weekend activities will include a talent contest, a Junior Olympics competition for children, a free concert featuring patriotic music, a Philadelphia Phillies Home Run Derby and a large pyrotechnic display.
The fun will begin at 8:00 p.m. July 3, with the resort’s weekly Sea Isle City’s Got Talent Contest at the Excursion Park Band Shell, JFK Boulevard and the Beach, where a line-up of talented amateur performers will compete for cash prizes before a live audience (no admission fee is required for spectators).
Then, on the morning of Independence Day, July 4, the resort’s annual Junior Olympics competition for kids will take place at Dealy Field, located on Central Avenue between 59th and 63rd Street. Sponsored by Sea Isle’s Division of Recreation, this friendly competition for boys and girls (age 3-13) will feature running, jumping and throwing events. Competitors will be grouped by age and gender before being escorted to each event by volunteers from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City, who will also serve as judges. Afterwards, the top three winners in each contest will receive Olympic-style medals while standing on a three-tiered victory platform.
Parents can register their children on the day of the Junior Olympics at Dealy Field beginning at 9:30 a.m. The games will begin shortly after registration. The Junior Olympics competition lasts for approximately two hours. Families are reminded to bring hats, sunscreen, bottled water and their cameras.
The evening of July 4th will kick-off with a free concert by The Atlantic Pops Orchestra from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Excursion Park Band Shell, located at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade. The concert will feature a variety of patriotic music that will have toes tapping and hands clapping.
Immediately following the Atlantic Pops Concert, Sea Isle City’s annual Independence Day Fireworks Show will begin at 9:00 p.m. July 4. The “rocket’s red glare” will be launched from an ocean barge anchored near the 50th Street Beach, which will make Sea Isle’s Promenade and other beach-front areas ideal viewing locations. The rain date for the fireworks show is July 5.
July 5, Sea Isle City’s Division of Recreation will host the Philadelphia Phillies Home Run Derby for boys and girls (age 7-12) at Dealy Field. The batting competition for Girls (7-12) and Boys (9-10) will begin at 12 noon. Boys (ages 7-8 and 11-12) will compete beginning at 1:30 p.m. The derby’s rain date is July 12.
