Poet Safiyah Givens Returns To Woodbine

By Press Release

WOODBINE — Local poet Safiyah Givens will be reading her work at the Woodbine Branch of the Cape May Library County on March 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Safiyah J Givens was born 1983 in Vineland, where she currently resides. At the age of two her and her mother moved to Woodbine, where she was raised. She always had a passion for reading and thought about writing a book but never knew what to write about until at the age of 27 she became a believer of Christ and two years later God told her she is a poet. Although shocking to her, she knew it was purpose in it and went ahead to obey the calling. The greatest accomplishment that she has made in her life was to graduate college with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis in Psychology but now she can say that the greatest accomplishment is to have a book published and to have it done for God’s glory.
Safiyah is also very active in the church as a leader of a creative arts ministry, serving in the media ministry and family promise ministry. The gift of writing is now a motivation for her to achieve her God given purpose.
“I am looking forward to hearing former Woodbine resident Ms. Givens share her message through her poetry with our diverse population in Woodbine,” said Mayor Pikolycky. “I welcome her back to the community in which she grew up.”
