OCEAN CITY — The 2010 summer season of the Ocean City Theatre Company and the Ocean City POPS kicks off with the classic musical, Oklahoma!
Often called the birth of the modern American musical, Oklahoma! by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, was the first collaboration between these two giants of musical theatre.
Oklahoma! tells the story of the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys. This provides a colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.
The sounds of the Ocean City POPS under the direction of William Scheible will soar with classic hits like “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “Surrey with the Fringe On Top” and “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning.”
Director-Choreographer Michael Hartman is thrilled to bring to life this Americana story with a cast of professional singers, dancers and actors from the New York City.
