New Funland to open in Sea Isle

By On Deck Staff

One of Sea Isle’s newest and biggest attractions will be an amusement park that can be seen as soon as visitors enter the town.
Gillian’s Funland of Sea Isle City, on the south side of the bridge between JFK Boulevard and 42nd Place, will be a great attraction for all ages and will be Sea Isle’s first amusement park in over a decade.
Their goal is to be open for Skimmer Weekend, June 20-21.
Jay Gillian, of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, is a third-generation amusement park owner. His grandfather started Gillian’s Fun Deck 80 years ago, and then in 1965 his father opened Wonderland Pier.
Gillian’s Funland will have the same ticket prices as Wonderland Pier in Ocean City and tickets will be interchangeable between parks. Gillian said he will run the same specials in Sea Isle as he does in Ocean City, including Two-Ticket Tuesdays and Thursdays and Wristband Wednesdays.
There will not be any vendors in the park but there will be a concession stand selling cotton candy and funnel cakes. Gillian wanted to stay away from snacks that may interfere with businesses in Sea Isle.
“I want to enhance Sea Isle, I don’t want to take away from the other businessmen,” he explained.
He thinks the location is going to work out well because the amusements not only have their own secluded area, but they are the grand welcoming into Sea Isle City.
Gillian explained that there are many events in Sea Isle for specific age groups, especially teens, but this amusement park would be a place for multiple age groups to come and spend time together.
“At the end of the day, we’re all about memories,” he said.
